Patrick Dempsey of 'Grey's Anatomy' fame is spearheading a group of investors in a venture to buy Tully's Coffee chain, Seattle's second largest coffee retailer.

The actor hit Twitter Wednesday with this interesting tidbit, "I hope we are successful in acquiring @tullyscoffee."

Dempsey and his entrepreneurial finance group are not alone in making a bid for the struggling company.

A Colorado group, identified as Kachi Partners, have entered into a "stalking horse" Asset Purchase Agreement with Tully's.  According to their website, "Tully's submitted the APA to the Seattle Bankruptcy Court on Nov. 26 and intends to conduct a court-supervised auction of its business before the end of the year."

Tully's CEO and President Scott Pearson said, "With this agreement in place with Kachi, we believe the business is positioned to emerge from this process in early 2013 and that we will be a much stronger company as a result."

The business, which includes 47-company owned stores, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in October 2012, citing low cash reserves and the need to negotiate leases with landlords.  At the time of the filing Tully's had recently closed 17 unprofitable locations.  Holdings include franchises in Japan and South Korea.

Dempsey's group "made a very competitive bid" this morning and are optimistic.  The actor said, "I've always loved this city, and with the purchase of Tully's Coffee, Seattle may be my home away from home in the very near future."

"Grey's Anatomy" star Patrick Dempsey is looking to play a role of a different kind. The actor wants to go from Dr. McDreamy to Dr. Strange.

Dempsey, who has a role in the upcoming third installment of the Transformers saga, "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," tells the Los Angeles Times that he's ready to take his career to a different level, and is vying for the role of Marvel Comics sorcerer, Dr. Strange.

“There’s a whole bunch of people who are into comics and Marvel, too, on the set and they’re like, ‘Doctor Strange, that’s the one you should do.’ It would be fantastic," says the 45-year-old actor.

Dr. Strange is on a short list of superheros slated for film action by Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios. "I have not been shy about my love for Dr. Strange, Black Panther and Luke Cage," Feige said in an interview last December.

Apparently, Dempsey's appeal in the role is not lost on Feige. “He knows what’s going on," says Dempsey. "There was stuff going on. At Comic-Con they were talking about me playing it and there was a rumor that I’d been cast. I mean, it’s something that’s kind of out there and, you know, I’ve been looking at that. It would be a fun one to do. Hopefully, doing something like ‘Transformers’ is about to show myself in an action situation where I’m not mister-weepy-doctor guy, you know, not McDreamy. You have to change that in people’s view. I’m still hungry for other things. I’d love to play Doctor Strange.”

After taking a $529,000 loss on his Bel Air home in late 2009, Patrick Dempsey forked over a whopping $7,000,000 for his current multi-level contemporary residence in Malibu.

Dempsey paid $3,100,000 for the 3,841 square foot New England style Bel Air home in 2006, selling it for $2,571,500 in 2009.  After briefly leasing a home in Brentwood, Dempsey bought his current residence in June 2009.

Originally designed by architect Frank Gehry in 1972, the 5,547 square foot, 3 bedroom, 3 1/2 bath home with two offices sits in the hills above Zuma Beach.

The property includes a 3,343 square foot barn with three stalls, tack room and wash racks, a riding ring, two irrigated pastures, a chicken coop, and established raised bed vegetable and herb gardens accented with rose bushes and flowering vines perfectly suited for the Dempsey's reportedly organic lifestyle.

The home boasts a wall of glass in the front entry, and a lofted area overlooking the interior spaces unified by a 20-foot by 20-foot central sky light.  A wall of windows in the formal dining area looks out onto the gardens.  The galley style kitchen with polished concrete counter tops opens into the breakfast area.  An elevated den with built in shelving and a wall of windows sits over the breakfast area.

A wooden deck and tree-shaded banquettes surround the swimming pool and an outdoor rain shower.

Who would you rather see as the face of Versace - Patrick Dempsey or Gerard Butler? Well, that is the big question looming. Dempsey is currently Versace's face of the menswear line, but there is talk that Donatella Versace is looking at changing this up a bit.

A source talked to OK! and said:

"Ironically, Gerard is most famous for a role in which he practically wore no clothes, but he'll be a much better fit for the sexy brand."

Gerard was personally invited by Donatella to Milan for the runway show on June 21st. She is said the be the only woman trying to keep his clothes on, not take them off.

Personally, we have no preference as they are great looking men and both would do the men's line plenty of justice. Time will tell if Gerard will take over. At this point a Versace rep is denying the rumor.

Patrick Dempsy, the hot Doctor on Grey's Anatomy, talked to Extra on fatherhood and work.
The actor tells "Extra" that his 6-month-old twin sons "are developing beautifully ... It's a lot of fun."

It's a sentiment he echoes when asked about filming the latest installment of his hit TV show: "It's a lot lighter, people are having more fun."

"The energy and the adjustments make a big difference," he says, referring to the departure of Isaiah Washington after an on-set altercation between the stars last season.

Definitely pumped to be back at Seattle Grace, he declares, "I'm going to go save some lives again!"

Dempsey, 41, who races cars on the Hyper Sport racing team, plans to have twins Darby Galen and Sullivan Patrick driving "soon enough."

"You can get those little go carts," he says, but there'll be "no pressure" for them to race like dad.
