According to a preliminary report released Wednesday, Dec. 4, by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office, Paul Walker died of the combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries.

The deaths of the ‘Fast and Furious’ star and his friend Roger Rodas have been ruled to be accidental.

Rodas, confirmed to be the driver with the aid of dental records, died of multiple traumatic injuries when the car hit a fixed object.

Toxicology results for both men are pending and could take six to eight weeks.

Video footage of the accident shows the car bursting into flames several minutes after the crash — an indication that the actor was still alive when the red Porsche erupted into flames. L.A. County detectives noted in the crash report that speed was a factor.

As a result of the untimely death of Walker, Universal Pictures has halted filming on ‘Fast & Furious 7’ for an unspecified period. The latest installment of the popular franchise had been slated to be released in U.S. theaters on July 11, 2014.

The studio said in a statement, “At this time we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward.”

Walker is survived by a 15-year-old daughter Meadow, who was living with him at the time of his death. Other survivors include his parents and three siblings.
