Poor Susan Boyle. The Scottish singing sensation, voted runner-up on Britian’s Got Talent, was in L.A. today to tape a performance for next week’s America’s Got Talent finale when trouble erupted.

According to our friends at TMZ, the talented singer came prepared to record an advance performance of Perfect Day. As is customary, the show’s producers contacted the songwriter, Lou Reed, to secure permission. Apparently not a Susan Boyle fan, the former lead singer of The Velvet Underground said no way…or words to that effect.

The news sent Boyle into meltdown mode. She could not be persuaded to sing something else. Instead she headed to LAX this afternoon for a return flight to her new home in West Lothian.

Susan was in L.A. for an advance taping because she will perform for Pope Benedict XVI next week when he visits her native Scotland on September 16.

The songstress has previously been hospitalized for an emotional breakdown. Hopefully she can pull herself back together for her command performance. The good news is that Boyle did not plan to sing Perfect Day for the pontiff. She will perform I Dreamed A Dream and How Great Thou Art.
