Co-creator of American Horror Story, Ryan Murphy, took to Twitter today to confirm rumors that season 4 of American Horror Story will be called American Horror Story: Freak Show.  The rumor is that this next season will have a 1950s carnival theme.

So far the only confirmed returning cast member for season 4 of  American Horror Story is Jessica Lange, who says this is likely her final season. Murphy has remarked before that Lange is working on her German accent.

So what do you think - will you be watching?  Seriously, the thought of evil clowns freaks me out!

For you American Horror Story fans, rumors of the setting for season 4 have been running like crazy!  Fans had originally been speculating that the upcoming season would be set at a circus, but the rumors kept getting shut down.  In a recent Nerdist podcast, AHS writer Douglas Petrie let it slip that season 4 would have a carnival setting!

When a podcast guest said she heard a rumor that the new season was set at a carnival, Petrie spilled the beans. "Yes," Petrie said when asked if it was set at a carnival. "It doesn't have a title, but that's the idea. Very roughly, that's the idea."

Ryan Murphy, the series co-creator, also spilled to Entertainment Weekly that this season would have a 1950s vibe!

A carnival set in the 1950s sounds pretty awesome.  Except for the scary clown and carnie thing.  Shudder.

Comedic actor Bill Cosby will make his television comeback with a new family sitcom on NBC that will feature him as a patriarch in a multi-generational family.

'The Cosby Show' star has signed a deal in which he will develop and star in a half-hour television series for NBC. The show will be produced by Tom Werner, who also worked his magic on the 80's hit.

Cosby, 76, who has been off the air for 14 years, has been mulling over the idea with Werner for some time.  They are now working with writers and categorize the upcoming show as an "off-season development track" that has not yet received a pilot order.

The veteran actor said, "There is a viewership out there that wants to see comedy, and warmth, and love, and surprise, and cleverness, without going into the party attitude."

"They would like to see a married couple that acts like they love each other, warts and all, children who respect the parenting, and the comedy of people who make mistakes."

In other projects, Cosby is working on a reboot of his animated series 'Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids.'

katie couric

Katie Couric's ABC talk show 'Katie' has been canceled after just two seasons and will go off the air in six months.

Katie and Disney-ABC released a joint statement, “While production will continue on 'Katie' through June 2014, we've mutually agreed that there will not be a third season of the show. We're very proud of everyone's contributions to making Katie the #1 new syndicated talk show of 2012-2013, and we look forward to the rest of the season.”

The downfall of the show wasn't so much the ratings as it was the cost to keep the show running. Reports suggest that it cost upwards of $50 million to produce after it's 2012 launch. During the second year the annual budget went down to $35 million and that included Katie's wages.

Couric, anticipating the demise of 'Katie,' recently took a job with Yahoo! as a global anchor. The television veteran will be reporting on live world events and will anchor a series of groundbreaking interviews.

She'll earn $6 million a year at Yahoo!, a far cry from the $20 million that she was raking in during her two year talk show gig.

Katie tweeted a note to her fans:

Katie announced her engagement this past summer to financier John Molner, her boyfriend of two years. They will reportedly tie the knot sometime in 2014.

Couric has two daughters, Ellie, 22, and Carrie, 17.  Their father, lawyer Jay Monahan, died of colon cancer in 1998 at the age of 42.

molly shannon

Saturday Night Live alum Molly Shannon has hooked up with the Fox network to produce and star in a single-camera sitcom that is slated to air in 2014.

The comedy will have Shannon cast as Fiona, a career driven woman whose lifestyle clashes with her stay-at-home pregnant daughter.

Bruce McCulloch will pen the pilot script.  He previously directed the comedic actress in the 1999 film 'Superstar.'

Shannon starred in the short-lived NBC sitcom 'Kath & Kim' in 2008, and will appear this season in a story arc on Fox series 'Raising Hope.'  Season 4 premieres Nov. 15.

Molly was nominated in 2013 for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her portrayal of Eileen Foliente on the HBO comedy-drama 'Enlightened.'

She recently wrapped filming the zombie comedy 'Life After Beth,' co-starring Anna Kendrick, Aubrey Plaza, Cheryl Hines, Paul Reiser and John C. Reilly.  The movie hits the big screen on Jan. 31, 2014.

Her former ensemble SNL cast mate Kristen Wiig is high on her old pal, "The amazing Molly Shannon, she's just completely fearless."

Shannon wed artist Fritz Chestnut in 2004.  They have two children: daughter Stella, 10, and son Nolan, 8.

Lifetime channel has pulled the plug on the Jennifer Love Hewitt television drama 'The Client List' after two seasons.

The pregnant actress was reportedly involved in a great deal of backstage drama with her co-star and real-life fiancee Brian Hallisay before the network opted to cancel the show.

As executive producer, JLH wanted to write her pregnancy into the plot line and others weren't for it.  She also wanted Hallisay's character to be the baby's father.  Lifetime and Sony/ITV dragged their feet ... and ultimately decided not to extend a renewal offer.

With rumors swirling, a rep for Hewitt claimed while things were still up in the air for a third season, “There are many story lines that we are exploring so any suggestion that we are not doing our best to develop a great season is simply not accurate.”

The actress announced her pregnancy in June, just a few weeks before the season two finale.  She said, “This is a wonderful time and we are looking forward to starting our family together."

Season one finale brought in 2.7 million viewer and Season two drew a disappointing 2 million.

'The Client List' Twitter fan feed acknowledged the demise of the series.  "Goodbye The Client List.  It has been officially cancelled.  I'm depressed guys lemme cry."

Rumors are swirling that Kris Jenner's 6-week summer pilot on the FOX network will not be renewed.  According to 'The Kris Show' Twitter feed, the verdict is still out.

Several websites have been reporting that FOX executives informed the mother of 6 that the show had been cancelled.   They claim that she was told there was no chance the talk show was going to get a green light from FOX. The ratings were averaging an abysmal 0.8 and advertisers were less than enthusiastic about it.

The Kardashian matriarch pulled out all of the stops for the final show with the help of Kanye West.   His appearance brought the strongest ratings of her mini-season thanks to the advance hype that promised the first photo of his baby girl North.

After the story started to pick up traction,  'The Kris Show' Twitter page weighed in with this tweet, "Rumors flying are false but glad everyone is still buzzing about our 6 week summer run!!!!  No decision until late fall."

In a show of family support, Khloe Kardashian set aside her own problems to give her mother a Twitter shout out:

on the fly

One of my favorite Twin Cites radio personalities Tony Fly has landed a new television gig and we're excited to spread the word about 'On the Fly,' set to debut on WFTC My29 next week.

Host Tony will be joined by Fox 9 traffic reporter Kelsey Soby and former KTWN producer Dan Edwards.

The show debuts on July 22, featuring a Monday through Friday format at 11 p.m., with a repeat at 8 a.m. the following morning.

Fly told the Pioneer Press that the one-hour program will be a fast moving, content-filled show with “some fun, laughs and games."

Expect the show to be very interactive on Facebook and Twitter. In addition, the hosts plan to hook up with a variety of Skype guests.

This writer got to hang out on set for a practice taping last week and I left wanting more.  Suffice it to say - there will be tons of craziness and good humor.

Tony, Kelsey and Dan will be hosting a premiere party and sharing a sneak peek video of the new show at Hubert's Target Center on Monday, July 22 from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. You're all invited for some free food and drink specials and a chance to be 'On the Fly.'

Check out the video below for a dose of the cool chemistry that is sure to make this show an instant Twin Cities hit:

jenny mccarthy new co host of the view

Jenny MCCarthy will be joining the ladies of The View as co-host when the show returns on September 9 for its 17th season.

The announcement comes as Joy Behar prepares to leave, and less than a week after Elisabeth Hasslebeck co-hosted her last episode of the talk show.

McCarthy confirmed the news Monday on her blog, with a post titled, "YUP, I'M DOING 'THE VIEW'!"

From Jenny McCarthy's blog: "When word got out that Joy was leaving “The View,” I knew that the timing of my desire and her departure might be serendipitous for me. Fortunately, the executives at Vh1 also knew these opportunities don’t happen that often, and they allowed me to make the move with their loving support. It’s proof that I was working with some amazing people over there, and I will continue to do more with them — outside of talk — in the future.

Now, I look forward to working with my amazing new partners at ABC. I start co-hosting “The View” on September 9th. I can’t tell you how excited I am for the opportunity to work with Barbara, Whoopi and Sherri.  I will be doing everything I can to provoke conversation, make you think, make you laugh and maybe even spill the beans on what goes on backstage (like if I accidentally barge into Bradley Cooper’s dressing room in a towel).

I might be moving from late night to daytime, but I’m just as fun with a mimosa as I am with a martini. I look forward to spiking your morning coffee on “The View” for years to come."

Show host and co-executive producer Barbara Walters released a statement, saying, "Jenny brings us intelligence as well as warmth and humor. She can be serious and outrageous. She has connected with our audience and offers a fresh point of view. Jenny will be a great addition to the show as we usher in an exciting new chapter for The View."
