tessanne chin wins the voice season 5

'The Voice' crowned Tessanne Chin their newest champion Tuesday night during the finale of season five.  Her coach was PEOPLE's Sexiest Man of the Year, rocker Adam Levine.

He said to his protege prior to her victory, "You are just capable of anything and it blows me away.  I know in my mind and heart you are the winner of this show."

The 28-year-old backup singer from Jamaica performed 'Love Can Move Mountains' with Celine Dion earlier in the evening.

She debuted the winner's song, 'Tumbling Down,' after being crowned the new champion and will reprise the performance while riding on a float during the Rose Bowl parade on January 1, 2014.

The song was written by Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic fame and is an original composition for the winner of 'The Voice.'

Runner-up honors went to Jacquie Lee, who was coached by Christina Aguilara.  Third place went to Adam Levine's other finalist Will Champlin.

cole vosbury pic

One of our favorite contestants on 'The Voice' this season is Cole Vosbury.  The singer is learning quickly that everyone wants a piece of you when you enter the world of fame.

Last month businessman Harold Glen Martin was arrested on charges of attempting to extort Vosbury with threats to expose deep dark secrets about his life.

Martin claims that Vosbury was paid a $200 retainer to perform at a benefit concert but didn't make it because he was pursuing his dream on 'The Voice.'

Caddo Sheriff's Department detective Bobby Herring spoke about the situation, “Harold Martin actually called Shreveport Music and spoke to the owner and was asking for a guitarist.  Cole Vosbury happened to be in the shop at the time and was recommended by the guy at Shreveport Music.”

Herring continued, "Cole had no knowledge of anything.  Martin basically sent $200 in cash in an envelope assuming Vosbury would do the show.”

Cole's father Robin Vosbury tried to return the money but was told by Martin to consider it a gift and he ended the conversation by wishing the man's son well on 'The Voice.'

Police indicate, “The businessman decided to basically extort them by saying that he was going to put out negative stuff in the media and affect his chances on The Voice unless he agreed to do what he claims was ten free performances for this man, at his own discretion, any time he wanted.”

As Cole progressed on the show the threatening treatment escalated. Detective Herring revealed that Cole and his family have clearly been tormented by this man.

Monday, November 18 the Top 10 will compete.  See last week's performance below:

danielle bradbery joins taylors label

Texas teen Danielle Bradbery, the newly-anointed winner of 'The Voice,' was promptly signed by Nashville's famed Big Machine Records, who boast Taylor Swift among their high profile clients.

Other well known entertainers currently under contract with the country music label are Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts and The Cadillac Three.

The 16-year-old high school student will begin recording next week after a whirlwind run on the fourth season of the popular NBC singing competition.

Danielle claims she never had a vocal lesson or sang in public before auditioning for 'The Voice.'  Despite the lack of experience, it was Bradbery's perfect pitch and "vocal maturity" that immediately captured the attention of fans across the nation.

Her mentor Blake Shelton said, "I think it's the most important win we have had so far on The Voice because Danielle is the first winner that had no professional experience in the past."

Usher, who mentored second-place finisher Michelle Chamuel, was more than a little impressed with Bradbery.  He said, "Her talent was God-sent."

the voice winners duet with hunter hayes

Sixteen-year-old Danielle Bradbery won Season 4 of the hit NBC singing competition 'The Voice.'

This was the third win in a row for her mentor Blake Shelton.  He said, "I don't give a crap, honestly, about a threepeat."

That said, the country crooner seemed decidedly pleased that his latest protege won a recording contract. Team Usher finalist  Michelle Chamuel took second place and Team Blake's other country act, the Swon Brothers, finished third.

Danielle is the youngest contestant and the first country artist to win 'The Voice.'  Shelton called her "the most important star to ever walk across 'The Voice' stage."

The Cypress, Texas native claims she has never had a vocal lesson, nor had she ever sung publicly before trying out for the show.  Prior to auditioning, the teen did all of her singing in front of her bedroom mirror.

During the finale Bradbery teamed up with Hunter Hayes for an impressive duet performance of 'I Want Crazy.'

team usher with michelle chamuel

During the final evening of competition on season four of the NBC hit singing competition 'The Voice,' Usher Raymond declared his protege Michelle Chamuel "the winner."

Shakira seemed to agree, "Your energy is contagious.  You're extraordinary.  You're needed out there, as an artist."

Coach Blake Shelton was kind but saved his best praise for his two remaining acts - The Swon Brothers and 16-year-old phenom Danielle Bradbery.

Chamuel, 26, is a former member of the band Ella Riot under the artistic trade name "The Reverb Junkie."  Her studio version of the Taylor Swift song 'I Knew You Were Trouble', released on June 3, 2013, peaked at #4 on the iTunes Chart, cinching her advancement to the final round of competition.

Her best performance of the evening, in our humble opinion, was a duet rendition of U2's 'One' with Usher.

Check out the video below and let us know who you think will win the recording contract and bragging rights during the finale tonight:

the voice top 3 head to finals

Two artists on 'The Voice' were eliminated Tuesday night, leaving only three acts to face off next week in the final round of competition.

Adam Levine's Amber Carrington and Shakira's Sasha Allen reached the end of the line during the semi-final round.  They both hit Twitter to express their appreciation to fans.

Amber tweeted, "I touched so many hearts through out my time on The Voice!  My life has forever changed.  I LOVE you guys!"  Sasha posted, "What a ride... Thank you for your LOVE and support!!"

Left to vie for the coveted recording contract are Usher's Michelle Chamuel, and Blake's Danielle Bradbery and The Swon Brothers.

Shelton's Season 2 and Season 3 proteges Jermaine Paul and Cassadee Pope were victorious, as was Season 1 winner Javier Colon - mentored by Adam Levine.

Odds seem to favor coach Blake Shelton to beat the rest of the coaching pack again this season -- but unless we're mistaken, it will be Usher's artist who ends up winning Season 4.

Next week's Live Results show will feature Cher, Florida George Line ft. Nelly, Pitbull ft. Christina Aguilera and Bruno Mars.

i hate this country

Mentor-coach Adam Levine voiced his displeasure last night during the elimination segment on 'The Voice' and was heard saying on an open microphone, "I hate this country."

Two of his artists, Sarah Simmons and Judith Hill, were voted out of the competition and the Maroon 5 frontman was clearly frustrated with how America voted.

Twitter blew up as outraged fans took Levine to task for what appeared to be a decidedly negative comment.  He responded with not one ... but four clarifications:

miranda and blake perform tribute duet

Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton performed a heart-felt rendition of her hit song 'Over You' last night on 'The Voice' as a tribute to the residents of Moore, Oklahoma.

Throughout the poignant performance, NBC displayed a banner at the bottom of the screen that read: "To help disaster victims, please donate at redcross.org or call 1-800-HELP NOW."

The Oklahoma native and his wife opened Tuesday's results show with the touching duet.  Afterward Shelton said, "I think 'Over You' was the perfect song for this situation.  The moment was right.  I wish things could have been different.  I wouldn't have thought about performing a song like that, but it seemed like the right thing to do."

Blake announced that he is already working with NBC on a concert to aid tornado victims, "Hopefully, it will be something big and will raise a lot of money, and obviously it will be televised.  It will happen really quickly and, hopefully, I can call in some really big favors."  As he said the last, he was pointing at his fellow coach, Usher.

cee lo and xtina rejoining the voice

Unlike other reality talent competitions, NBC's 'The Voice' is not feeling the need to shake things up, but rather has decided to revisit the past by inviting Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera back as season 5 coaches.

Adam Levine and Blake Shelton will remain firming entrenched with the show while Shakira and Usher will be given a one-season break to do other things.

The popular singing show has been killing it with the ratings since the series debuted during the 2010-11 season, much to the dismay of their sagging competitor 'American Idol.'

New mom Shakira has been experiencing some serious mommy guilt, of late, and is looking forward to returning to Spain when the season wraps in June.

The announcement came today from Paul Telegdy, president of programming at NBC: "We locked in a plan several months ago to have the outstanding Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green rejoin Blake and Adam for cycle 5, and we're pleased to announce that the original four coaches are going to be back together in the fall."

"They're the reason this show was launched so strong for the first three cycles and we owe them a debt of gratitude.  And after careful consideration of everyone's schedules for next spring, we are excited to be returning the current cycle of judges -- Shakira and Usher along with Blake and Adam -- for cycle 6, which will premiere after the Winter Olympics."

not coming back for season 5

Shakira confirmed yesterday that she is leaving the popular NBC reality singing competition 'The Voice' at the end of the season.

The entertainer told Access Hollywood that she may try another stint in the future but "not for next season, for sure.  I have to get back to my baby -- give him some love and dedicate some time to him and also to the new album that I'm working on."

Shakira, 36, gave birth to son Milan on January 22, 2013 in Barcelona, Spain, where she resides with her 26-year-old boyfriend and baby daddy Gerard Pique.  He is a Spanish footballer who plays as a central defender for FC Barcelona.

Several weeks after her baby was born, the Columbian singer-songwriter head to L.A., where she hooked up with Usher as the newest cast members on 'The Voice.'

The Top 10 contestants on 'The Voice' will take the stage next Monday, with Season 4 wrapping on June 18, 2013.
